The Best Marijuana in Durango

It’s right here at The Greenery. And hopefully, you already knew that; I’ve been telling you for years that we grow the best cannabis this side of the continental divide. However, let’s be honest: The Greenery Grow is awesome, but it’s not the biggest operation in the world because we’ve always taken the “quality over quantity” route. Our mom tent is big enough for thirty plants or so, meaning we have around thirty different strains in our genetics library that we can rotate through our flowering rooms. We grow some heavy hitters like Sour Diesel, Super Lemon Haze, and Runtz, but still, variety is the spice of life, and there’s no way our customers would stay happy if they had to smoke the same 30 varietals for the rest of their lives, so we also bring in some of the best cannabis from across Colorado to supplement what comes out of our cultivation. This morning, as I was sitting at my desk in a stupor wondering what I’d write about this week, I realized that I’ve never told you anything about the cultivations that produce some of the flower we bring into Durango specifically for variety’s sake, so, that’s exactly what I’m going to do. Here you go:

Boulder Built is probably my favorite at the moment because to say that their genetics are “rare and exotic” would be an understatement. This is the team that brought you strains like Mr. Nasty and Flavor Crystals (pictured above), the former of which is a cross between GMO and Grease Monkey; the latter is created by crossing Grape Pie with Legend Orange Apricot. Boulder Built puts time and science into their craft, and the buds that come out of their cultivation are comically awesome—they’re huge and dense and covered with crystals that coat your hands when you play with your pot.

Silver Lake is another good one, and they’re shipping us four pounds of flower (all of which tests over 30% THC) as I type this. This place takes things up a step given that they cure all their cannabis in glass, which protects the flavor, but more importantly, they bring the variety. These guys grow about a billion different cultivars, so we’ll always bring in their newest and best to keep fresh our flower offerings. And not for nothing, 30% THC is impressive. This number quite literally means that a solid 30% of the flower’s weight is from pure THC, so please start low and go slow with this stuff. It packs a punch.

Next comes In The Flo, which is a company that has long supplied us with fire. I’d argue that this grow is the best wholesale-only cultivation in the state, and they focus on many of the classics (like Lemon Skunk) while peppering in exotics (like Don Shula). And if you’re paying attention and know your Colorado cannabis companies, you’ll notice that most of the brands I’m talking about are rooted in Boulder, which is no mistake. If you call yourself a true country/western singer, you’ve preformed in Nashville—if you call yourself a true cannabis breeder/grower, you’ve grown in Boulder. That’s just how it works, but the reason behind it lies with the OG Boulder growers who put Colorado on the map, one of which is In The Flo.

Lastly, per regular flower, anyway, comes Hummingbird Brand. We haven’t ordered from these guys yet (we will shortly), but it’s exciting to add Hummingbird to our lineup. They too are from Boulder, and they’re associated with The Farm family of dispensaries, which is woman-owned and simply awesome. These guys care about sustainability and organic practices, and they do everything right. Their bud is fluffy and bright and packed full of terpenes because they care more about flavor than potency, so it’s a win/win for everyone because we’ll charge a little less for this stuff than we will the potent, high-dollar stuff. Specifically, I’m excited about Skinny Pineapple (one of the strains Hummingbird bred) because the terp profile is insane: the flower smells like a bowl of fruit salad, the smoke tastes like a pineapple tart, and the high is downright tropical.

Now, the reason I used “regular flower” as a condition at the beginning of the previous paragraph is that it’d be amiss to not discuss the Sun Rocks we started selling recently from Dadirri. A “Sun Rock” is a bud of cannabis that’s been coated in distillate and then covered in Bubble Hash, which is why this uber-potent smokable doesn’t count as “regular flower” even though you smoke it as such. This stuff is dank and deep per the flavor, and the potent high breaks down the barriers those of us with high tolerances have standing between us and a good time, so I cannot tell you how much I love this stuff. And really, this just goes to show that we really are doing all we can to bring in the best cannabis products, because Dadirri is a solventless concentrate manufacturer, just like our own Hash Factory, but we added them to the mix because their Sun Rocks are second to none, which is what you deserve.

And that’s that! Please keep checking back in to learn all there is to know about recreational cannabis, and please keep checking our menu HERE because we’re always bringing in new flower strains. I promise that I’ll do a better job talking about all the new and exciting flower we’ll be sourcing from around Colorado, and I promise that The Greenery will stay focused on variety and quality when it comes to our weed, because We’re Your Best Buds!

CBD Products in Durango

I’m just glad I’m not a tourist. Can you imagine that? You travel to Durango, walk into our dispensary, and then you’re surrounded immediately by all the best marijuana products on earth, none of which you can bring home because crossing state lines with marijuana is highly illegal. Know what I mean? I live right down the road, so I get to have my infused cake and eat it, too. And even if a tourist is staying in a hotel, he or she is still most likely out of luck because most hotels don’t allow you to blaze up in your room, which is a shame.

I wrote a much longer piece on the subject that you can read HERE, but basically, you must be on private property and have the property owner’s permission to consume cannabis legally in Colorado, and while most hotels are indeed private property, most of them won’t give you their permission, which is a crucial part of the whole thing. Granted, a few of them allow guests to smoke pot outside right next to all the cigarette smokers, but until there are social consumption lounges that allow indoor smoking, cannabis will always be inconvenient for tourists, which sucks. And the truly unjust component to all of this is that even if that tourist lives in another legal state that borders Colorado, like New Mexico or Arizona, they still can’t bring Colorado cannabis products home because crossing state lines falls under federal jurisdiction. It’s all pretty ridiculous, and it shows how far we still have to go before we can truly call marijuana “legal.”

I cannot tell you how many tourists I’ve disappointed by telling them all of this when they stop by to experience Colorado’s legal cannabis market. They walk in with a bewildered smile that turns upside-down when they learn all the limitations, and then they say something like “oh well” once they realize all their preconceptions were too good to be true. Up until now, best-case-scenario, they could buy a hat or a T shirt as a souvenir and go on their way. But like I said, that was only “up until now.”

You see, thanks to The Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018 (The Farm Act), hemp became completely legal here in the US. And if you’ll remember from reading THIS blog that describes the difference between hemp and marijuana, you’ll know that they’re both the exact same species of cannabis. Cannabis that contains less than 0.3% THC is referred to as “hemp,” as where cannabis that contains more than 0.3% THC is called “marijuana.” That’s it; that’s literally the only difference.

So, we’ve decided to start selling hemp-derived CBD products that are 100% legal to take home with you, no matter where you live in the United States. Hopefully, it’ll turn some of those tourist frowns right-side up. We’ve partnered with a local company called 4 Corners Cannabis because besides being local, they were also one of the first five companies in the country to produce CBD products from hemp, and they’ve become one of the best thanks to their experience. This five-star rated company started production way back in 2013, and their “farm-to-bottle” approach—wherein literally everything used in their products is sourced locally—has set them apart as the most trustworthy CBD brand in the nation.

But before we dive into the lineup of 4 Corners Cannabis products that we’re selling in Durango’s best dispensary, we should have a quick refresher on CBD itself. You can click HERE for a fuller explanation, but long story short, CBD stands for “cannabidiol.” It’s a non-psychoactive cannabinoid found in marijuana, meaning that it’s a naturally occurring chemical compound that doesn’t get you high, unlike its famous cousin, THC. People try taking CBD for a smattering of issues, such as inflammation and pain management, but frankly, there haven’t been enough studies done on CBD to determine exactly what it can or cannot do, so everything is rather anecdotal at the moment. However, who knows? Maybe CBD really is the panacea everyone says it is; you’ll just have to try it yourself to find out.

And therein lies the rub: plenty of people want to try CBD without the intoxicating effects (or reginal illegality) associated with THC, and until today, that wasn’t possible in our dispensary because everything we sold had enough THC to preclude it from this category. So now, not only can you purchase products here that you can take home, but you can purchase hemp-derived edibles that are brimming with CBD but devoid of THC to the point wherein you’ll never need to worry about the intoxication. Now all you tourists can have your cake and eat it, too, right alongside locals such as myself.

So… let’s get into the products themselves. We’re selling three 4 Corners Cannabis products from now on: CBD honey, a CBD Tincture, and a CBD Lotion. Here’s what you can expect with each:

I’m starting with the honey because it’s my favorite. And I’m not talking about an itty-bitty jar of honey like you’d expect; this is a monstrous 12oz jug of honey that contains 1000mg of CBD. Each teaspoon delivers 22mg of CBD, which is perfect in my opinion, so all you need to do stir a teaspoon into your morning coffee, and you’ll be good to go. And the honey itself is 100% sourced from right here in Durango, so this product embodies everything a cannabis product should be. This honey is $46 after tax.

Next comes the lotion; it seems like everyone who comes in here looking for CBD asks for a lotion. The hemp-derived version we’re selling from 4 Corners Cannabis has no frills: it’s unscented with as few ingredients as possible, so this stuff delivers the CBD and nothing but the CBD. This lotion contains 500mg CBD, and it’ll deliver 10mg worth with every pump via the convenient dispenser. It’s $30 after tax for a 50ml bottle.

Finally, when it comes to the tincture, I should warn you that this product is formulated with only the benefits of CBD in mind. This means that the only two ingredients are avocado oil and hemp extract, which tastes exactly how it sounds. Many of the tincture producers out there want to coddle their customers, so they add all sorts of unnecessary stuff like sugar and artificial flavoring to make it go down more easily, but trust me, you don’t want that. You want CBD plain and simple, which makes this tincture from 4 Corners Cannabis the best out there. It contains 1000mg CBD, and each 0.25ml serving delivers just over 8mg CBD, so it’s easy to control precisely your CBD intake with this product.

And that’s that! If you’re a local who’s bummed by the fact that quality CBD products used to be found only online or in big cities, come see us and check out the offerings from 4 Corners Cannabis. And if you’re a tourist who’s always been bummed by the fact that you can’t take anything from a dispensary back home to wherever, you need to get in here and check this stuff out. We’re open seven days a week, we’re located close to all the hotels at 208 Parker Avenue right here in Bodo Park, and when it comes to hemp-derived CBD products, We’re Your Best Buds!

Pre-Roll Packs in Durango

Way back in the day, tobacco shops were called “tobacconists,” and for the most part, they sold loose-leaf tobacco. It would be displayed in large glass jars on the counter, usually decorated with parchment paper labels outlining the leaf’s origin and price. Tobacconists were hallowed establishments, places people would go to socialize and shop simultaneously, and I imagine they smelled wonderful, like a mix of dark wood and earthy tobacco.

But then in 1764, when the first rolling paper was invented in Alcoy, Spain, things started to change. The convenience of a quick cigarette trumped the nostalgia of an ornamental pipe, so pre-rolled tobacco started to take over here in America in the early 1800s. Exactly 100 years after the advent of rolling papers, the US government slapped a federal tax on cigarettes for the first time in 1864, and the rest is history. R.J. Reynolds introduced the 20-cigarette pack in 1913, it quickly became the industry standard, and then all the tobacconists that had once been neighborhood fixtures started disappearing because you could buy quick and easy cigarette packs in every corner store.

Do you see where I’m going with this? Yesteryear, when it came to smokable flower, large glass jars filled with pot were just about all you’d find in a dispensary. They were usually decorated with stylized paper labels listing the loose bud’s strain name, potency, and price. You’d choose the pot you wanted, and then slide into a social situation while the budtender weighed it out (but of course, we’ve always done that ahead of time here at The Greenery because we know you have better things to do than wait for weed).

But now, things are changing. The pre-roll is becoming king, just as the cigarette did, and in our industry, we’re seeing a 60% increase in pre-roll popularity year after year. Joints are quick and easy; they’re portable and convenient—they’re everything their tobacco counterpart once was, so it’s easy to see the future of commercial cannabis: it’s the pre-roll pack.

And that, my friends, is why The Greenery just introduced the Pinner Pack. The Pinner Pack is a little black box that fits perfectly in your pocket or purse, and it contains ten, half-gram joints for a total of 5g flower, but the best part is the price: it’s $39 after tax. Seriously, that’s $39 for 10 joints, which is not something I thought I’d see in my lifetime.

For real, the Pinner Pack is perfect. Full-gram joints can be a bit much if you smoke them by yourself, and they taste gross if you put them out and smoke them later. But with half-gram joints, you don’t have to worry about that. Just pull the Pinner Pack out of your pocket and light one up; it’s the perfect size for dog walks or quick breaks. And frankly, given how much waste the cannabis industry creates, the Pinner Pack gets even better once you realize the child-resistant box is made out of food-grade, biodegradable plastic. We thought of everything.

So, who knows? Maybe someday in the distant future, after dispensaries have disappeared because cannabis is sold everywhere, it’s possible that you’ll be able to find the Pinner Pack at every corner store. Maybe there will be a federal tax on it, and maybe this is just the beginning of something huge. Maybe. But until then, when it comes to the best, most affordable pre-roll pack in Durango, the only place you’ll find The Pinner Pack is at The Greenery, because We’re Your Best Buds!

King of Diamonds in Durango

No, the “King of Diamonds” isn’t a playing card: it’s the most potent cannabis concentrate you can buy, but we’ll get to that in a second. The real reason I’m writing this is to tell you about all the new and exciting products we’re adding to our shelves for the spring season.

I mean, variety is important, right? It’s been a while since we revamped our lineup, and since I shop only at The Greenery, I noticed recently that our edible and concentrate selections in particular hadn’t changed in a while, so we put our heads together and freshened our offerings with all sorts of stuff, the first of which was the King of Diamonds from Empire.

Look… if you call yourself a dab connoisseur, but you’ve never tried pure diamonds, you need to get in here ASAP before you lose your title. Technically speaking, The King of Diamonds dab is pure THCa crystalline, and since it usually tests at 99.98%, it’s the purest, most potent concentrate on earth. From a distance, this stuff looks exactly like quartz crystal, and it’s difficult to believe that it came from a marijuana plant, but I’ll explain. What they do to make this stuff is to first produce Live Resin: fresh-frozen flower is blasted with butane, and then the resulting oil is cured, which causes THCa crystals to start growing. At this point, the concentrate is simple Live resin, or “diamonds and terp sauce,” but the diamonds themselves still contain some of the yellow terpenes from the plant. So, the geniuses over at Empire take the Live Resin a step further through a process called “recrystallization.” Basically, they take the yellow diamonds out of the Live Resin, melt them down with acetic acid and hexane, and then they let the solution form new crystals, which end up being nearly 100% pure THCa. Crazy, right? And since the THC is left in its acid form, THCa, eating this stuff won’t get you high in the slightest. It’s an inert compound that won’t affect you in a psychotropic manner until you apply heat in your dab rig, which decarboxylates the cannabinoids; science is fun when it pertains to marijuana. And to dab this stuff is to experience something truly unique: the taste is almost nonexistent, and the high is wonderfully bright and clean. We simply love this stuff.

But if you’re a fan of the terp-rich taste that comes from standard Live Resin, we’ve still got you covered. We’ve always sold the best Live Resin on earth from Green Dot, but it’s a tad costly, so we just brought on the Live Resin from West Edison. This stuff is super saucy and potent, and if you get it on Waxy Wednesday, it’s barely over $33 per gram, which is a screaming deal for a concentrate of this quality.

Now, on to edibles! This category is near and dear to my heart because I love the convenience and long-lasting high provided by edibles, and I can say honestly that The Greenery now sells the best edible on earth: Dialed In Gummies. You see, most gummies are infused with hydrocarbon extracts made with butane or other chemical solvents. But Dialed In is made with solventless rosin: they press ice-water-extracted bubble hash in a steam press to squeeze out the cannabinoids. So, this new edible was made without any chemicals whatsoever, and since solventless rosin was used, the gummies retain the terpenes, and the high you get from these is as close to a smoked flower high as you can get without smoking flower. Simply put, Dialed In gummies are a game changer.

But just like all gummies, these can melt in the high heat of summer, so we also brought on one of Colorado’s most popular gummy brands, Green Hornet. These gummies are always consistent, but more importantly, they’re individually packaged. So, if you make the rookie mistake of leaving these in your car and they melt, they’ll still stay separate thanks to the packaging, and all you have to do is throw them in the fridge to make them solid again. This makes them perfect for camping and transporting, which is exactly the type of forethought that makes The Greenery Durango’s best dispensary.

And we also brought on the Quiq Chocolates from Incredibles. They’re also packaged individually, so they’re the best chocolate product for summer months, but more importantly, they’re fast acting. With most edibles, the THC is lipid-soluble, so it needs to bind with fats and be processed in your liver before you feel it. But with these new Quiq Chocolates (and with quite a few of the other edibles we sell, such as Wana), the THC has been nano-encapsulated to make it water-soluble. This means the THC permeates the semi-permeable cell walls in your body, and you can start to feel the high in as little as 15 minutes, which is perfect for impatient stoners.

Finally, we brought on the S’mores Bar from Incredibles for obvious reasons. This 100mg THC bar is made with mini marshmallows and chunks of graham crackers… can you imagine what it would taste like to make an actual s’more with this bar instead of boring non-infused chocolate? Well, we can, and that’s way we started selling it. You’re welcome.

Since you made it this far, I’m going to do something we’ve never done before and give you a sneak peek at the products “coming soon to a dispensary near you” (that would be us). Usually, we keep this stuff quiet because we don’t want the lesser dispensaries in town to get wind of what the best one is doing, but I love our customers, so I’ll divulge a few secrets and tell you what we’re bringing on in the coming months.

First, we’re also going to bring on The Jack of Diamonds from Empire to go right alongside their King. With the Jack version, they grind their large diamonds down into a fine powder that looks like ground table salt. I know that sounds a bit weird at first, but when you figure out that you can roll some of the pure THCa powder into a joint, or sprinkle it into a recipe for a homemade edible, the lightbulb above your head should start blinking.

Secondly, we’re about to order Live Sauce Carts from Harmony for our shelves. The Live Sauce (which is just terpene-rich Live Resin) from Harmony represents the pinnacle of cannabis vapes, and you wouldn’t believe the price if I told you, so I’ll save that surprise for when you arrive.

And lastly, if you’re a fan of edibles like I am, the future is bright for you here at The Greenery. Soon, we’ll have the cannabutter-infused cookies and brownies from Sweet Grass available for sale, and these things taste just like the treats grandma used to make, but they get you high. For hard lozenges, up until now, we’ve sold only the Sweet Pieces from Mountain High, but we’re about to have the Suck It from Canyon available, and I love these things because they contain only 2.5mg per piece (with 40 pieces per package), meaning you can eat quite a few of them if you have a high tolerance instead of having just one, which isn’t the case with most edibles.

We’re also bringing on Mr. Moxey’s Mints, which are the best mints ever in my opinion, and they originated on the west coast, so you know this edible is vetted and awesome. And finally, for all you shoppers who just need a quick and easy single-serving edible, we’re bringing on both Ganjalas and Pressies. The Ganjalas are delectable single-serving taffies made with solventless cannabutter, and they’re a local favorite produced next door in Telluride, so they have one heck of a cult following. And the pressies are quick and easy tablets that deliver 10mg THC per serving, and each one will cost you $4, which makes this the cheapest high you can find in our shop, period.

Boom! You made it to the end. I’m sorry this one was so long, but the list of new marijuana products we’re adding this summer deserves the attention. And as always, if we didn’t add to our lineup something you’d like to see, please just shoot a message to info@durangogreenery.com, and I’ll look into it. It’s very important to us as Durango’s highest-rated dispensary to offer all the things you want, and to always come fresh with a new variety of products to keep you excited every year, because We’re Your Best Buds!

Are Durango Dispensaries Open?

YES! Honestly, do you think something like a global pandemic could shut us down? Nope. We fought for years for the right to sell marijuana legally, so we’re going to do whatever it takes to keep on keeping on through all of this. In fact, this whole ordeal has made us step up our game, and if you read what follows, I’ll prove to you that The Greenery is the best Durango dispensary to shop at during all this craziness.

For one, we haven’t changed our hours in the slightest. We’re still open seven days a week—9am to 9:30pm on weekdays, 10am to 9:30pm on Saturday, and 10am to 7pm on Saturdays—and that’s not something we plan on changing. Secondly, not only are we fully stocked for the holidays, but we’re bringing over new strains from The Greenery Grow, and we’ve added quite a few new items to our shelves, including the best solventless vape cartridges on earth from Dab Logic and wonderfully delicious edibles from 7Sacred. And thirdly, we aren’t letting the dark winter dampen our specials—for all of December, all 1906 products are 40% off, all Dixie products are 20% off, all EvoLab and AiroPro vapes will be 20% off, and we have select grams of Moroccan Hash for $20 out-the-door, which is well over a 40% discount. Awesome, right?

But here’s the best part: we’ve completely redesigned our retail floor with a full plexiglass barrier between you and our budtenders. We have all sorts of fancy new features like microphones you can speak through to stay safe, we require masks in our store for both our staff and customers per the city’s order, and we’re doing everything we can as an essential business to keep you secure throughout this time, because it really does matter to us. But even if you’re still uncomfortable walking into a store with other shoppers, we’ve got you covered because we have online ordering, or you can simply call us at (970) 403-3710 and place a call-ahead order to pickup at our convenient curbside window, making it so you never have to come inside.

Nobody else in town can say all that. We have the largest dedicated parking lot, we have a discrete location (208 Parker Ave), and we have plenty of holiday deals, which makes us the best (and I’m not just saying that because I work here). So, if you’re not comfortable with the Covid-19 steps other shops in town have taken, please, come give us a chance. We promise to give you the best imaginable customer service for as long as La Plata County is suffering though Covid-19 restrictions, because We’re Your Best Buds!

Wana in Durango: New Products at The Greenery

wana, durango dispensary, wana durango, wana durango dispensary

Coronavirus was kicking our butts there for a while, and since we were hunkered down behind the glass of our curbside pick-up window, we went through a period wherein we didn’t bring on any new products. But now, things are creeping back towards normality: the kids are back in school, the days are getting cooler, and we’ve reopened our retail floor now that everyone is comfortable wearing masks in public. It’s starting to feel like it used to, and that’s wonderful. So, we decided to bring on a few new products to add some variety to our fall product lineup, and per usual, you get to be the first to hear about it. Let’s get into it…

You’ve all been asking for Wana products in our Durango dispensary for a while, so we made sure to add their stuff first. And if you haven’t heard of Wana, you might be the only one because they’re the largest edible producer in Colorado, and they’re one of the best despite their size. So, we went a little crazy and added quite a few of their products:

  • Wana Quick Frankly, these are probably the best gummies on the market, or at least the fastest acting, because Wana uses thermodynamic individual molecular encapsulation for their THC in this “Quick” version, so you feel the high within 15 minutes. That, and these gummies are vegan and gluten-free, so everybody loves them. The indica version tastes like pina colada, and the sativa flavor is peach bellini.
  • Wana Tarts. The only thing wrong with edibles is that most of them melt in the summer sun, but these tarts are impervious to heat, so this edible is for all you outdoor enthusiasts. Also, you get 20 servings (5mg each) in each pack of tarts instead of 10 like you would with most gummies, so you can control your serving size more easily. The sativa version tastes like hibiscus lemonade, and the indica flavor is mixed berry.
  • Wana Sour Gummies. In this category, we brought on the 2:1 Exotic Yuzu gummy, which delivers 10mg THC and 20mg CBD per gummy, for a 100mg THC and 200mg CBD package total (these things are awesome).

Wana is one of the largest cannabis companies on the planet, but this next brand we added to our shelves, 7Sacred, is one of the smallest. 7Sacred is founded by a local celebrity chef out of Telluride named Mike Alagna, and the connoisseur-grade edibles he makes are no joke—Mike uses locally-sourced ingredients, and he cooks everything in very small batches for quality. And all his edibles are infused with full-spectrum CO2 oil, so the effects are true to the strain. Here are the 7Sacred products you’ll be able to find at The Greenery:

  • 7Sacred Caramels. We’ve added the hybrid Western Slope Apple Butter caramels, and they’re made from local honey crisp apples and honey sourced partially from right here in Durango. These are the old-fashioned caramels wherein little amounts are allowed to cool individually in the wrapper, so they look homemade instead of mass produced. Each caramel delivers 10mg THC, and there are ten of them in each package for a 100mg THC total.
  • 7Saced Truffles. The only thing better than a handmade truffle is a handmade truffle that gets you high, so you’re welcome. These connoisseur-grade truffles deliver 10mg THC each (with a 100mg THC package total). The indica version is mint chocolate, and the sativa version is salted chocolate toffee.

We’ve also added the tinctures from Incredible Wellness to our menu, because these things are as simple and pure as a tincture gets—they contain nothing more than cannabis oil and coconut oil, so you won’t need to worry about added ingredients. We’ve brought on three versions:

  • 1:1. This version contains 100mg of both THC and CBD for a perfectly balanced ratio. Each serving delivers 3.3mg THC/CBD.
  • 10:1. This tincture contains 100mg THC and just a touch of CBD (10MG total), so it’s designed mostly for a recreational high. Each serving delivers 3.3mg THC and 0.33mg CBD.
  • 1:10. This tincture contains 100mg THC like the others, but it also contains a whopping 1000mg CBD; each serving delivers 3.3mg THC and 33.3mg CBD for those really rough days.

Alright… that’s plenty newness in the way of edibles, so let’s talk about other fun stuff. When it comes to vapes, we’ve added the new Flavor Packs from Green Dot. Basically, each Flavor Pack contains two, 500mg carts filled with the finest Live Resin on earth. But each cart in the pack is different, and the good people over at Green Dot have paired them to create an overarching flavor profile for the two, such as “dessert” or “gas.” It’s pure genius.

Also, we’ll have the THCa diamonds (this is the dab that tests at 99.9% THC, so watch yourself) back in stock shortly, meaning we’ll be the only shop in town that sells them, because that’s how we roll. And when it comes to paraphernalia, we’ve added the Wax Stick to our lineup, which is a little adaptor that fits onto any threaded vape pen and allows you to smoke dabs with the same battery you use for cartridges. Ingenious, right?

And that’s that! I’m sure we’ll start piling on the new products now that the world seems to be coming out of its shell, so keep checking back in to be the first to know. We’ll always keep you informed because We’re Your Best Buds!

Dab Tabs in Durango

Statos dab tab, dab tab, dabtab, durango dabtab, dab tad durango, dab tad dispensary, dabtab durango dispensary, dab tab dispensary durango

I’d thought that the creativity in the cannabis industry had reached its peak with THC transdermal patches that keep you high for twelve hours, or at least with the THC inhalers that work just like the ones for asthma, because how much more high-tech can things get? Honestly, I’d assumed that “they” had thought of every new and exciting way to get high possible, because there’s only so much you can do with cannabis, right? Well, I was wrong.

Now, we have something called “Dab Tabs” for sale here in our Durango dispensary. And these things have got to be the pinnacle because they’re inordinately novel and ingenious. Basically, a Dab Tab is a little, hexagonal piece of ceramic with an internal matrix suited perfectly for absorbing cannabis concentrates. These things are made by Stratos, and what they do is soak the Dab Tabs in HTFSE (high-terpene, full-spectrum extract), and then put them in a little bottle for you to enjoy.

If you dab with a rig and a banger, all you have to do is put one (or more) of the little ceramic hexagons into your cold banger, put on the carb cap (this part is important), and then do a cold-start dab wherein you slowly heat the banger and then inhale once you see your banger start to fill with vapor. Or, if you use a hand-held vaporizer like the Linx Hypnos Zero (that we also sell in our shop), all you have to do is put one of the Dab Tabs in the chamber right on top of the ceramic donut, push the button, and inhale. Out of a dab rig, you can usually get two or three good hits from a Dab Tab, but in a hand-held device, you can get eight or nine good hits, and these things pack a punch (the ones on our shelves right now are testing in the 70% THC range). For real, these things are mind-blowingly cool.

The only thing you have to watch out for is that right after using a Dab Tab, it’s really hot, so if you try to fish it out of your banger or pen with your fingers, you’ll regret it. But Stratos thinks of everything, so you get a nifty set of branded tweezers with each Dab Tab pack that you can use to handle the hot Dab Tabs. And once a Dab Tab is spent and cooled, all you have to do is throw it in your garden because the inert ceramic will act like an aerator for your soil, so it’s a win-win.

But the best things about the Dab Tabs are the convenience and portability. I mean honestly, if you were in a hurry and wanted to take some dabbable concentrate with you, can you imagine what would happen if you put a gram of wax in your pocket without the container? It’d be a hot, sticky mess that you’d regret, but Dab Tabs are dry to the touch, so you can handle them on the go without making a mess. And we sell two different packs of Dab Tabs here at The Greenery: the trial pack, which contains three Dab Tabs if you simply want to try these things sells for $12 after tax, and the full, 20 Dab Tab packs sells for $60. And the full pack is equal to one full gram of Live Resin, so it’s a spectacular deal.

So, yeah… I apologize for thinking I’d already told you about all the new and exciting things available in the cannabis market, because I was obviously wrong. But I promise to keep blogs like this one coming your way so you can stay informed, and as a company, we promise to keep stocking our shelves with all the new innovations that are out there, because We’re Your Best Buds!

Emerging Marijuana Products

Don’t tell anybody this, but sometimes, I get bored with marijuana. After a while, the same-old-stuff stops getting me high, and when I stare at our selection after my shift is over, I’m always looking for something new. But isn’t that how we all are? Don’t we all get tired with repetitive monotony? That common thread is probably what drives innovation, and in the cannabis industry, it’s no different—since the consumer is always looking for the next new thing, new things keep coming out. However, since marijuana is still federally illegal, cannabis companies can’t advertise like normal businesses, which means that you, the consumers, are usually the last to know when a new marijuana product hits the market.

So, I’m going to fix that with this blog. Frankly, if you’re a long-time reader, you already know that this is the best cannabis blog out there, so what else would you expect? Our site has always been the first place to look for accurate, up-to-date marijuana information, and it’s no different when it comes to emerging products, so let’s dive into the topic:

Green Dot PAX Pods

For the record, a couple of the emerging products I’ll discuss are too new to have found their way into our Durango dispensary, but we already have this first new product, and believe it or not, we were the first dispensary in Colorado to order it. That’s usually something only the fancy shops in downtown Denver can say, so we feel pretty special to be the first given that we’re a small mountain town dispensary, and because the PAX Pods from Green Dot are simply spectacular.

I’ve already told you all there is to know about the PAX Era Vaporizer (click the link for a refresher), but these new pods are the best cartridges you can buy for the PAX Era in my opinion. Each one is filled with 500mg of Live Resin that’s pure and uncut. Green Dot is classifying their Pods by terpene profiles, and the one we have on our shelves right now is reminiscent of melons (but again, it’s the marijuana that makes it taste that way, not melon flavoring). For real, if you have a Pax and you’ve never tried this product, I’m just going to go ahead and say “you’re welcome” right now.

Midnight Drops from 1906

A “drop” is a pill that you swallow, just to set things straight, and much like the first product I told you about, we were the first in the region to add this product to our shelves as well. There are 20 drops in each container of Midnight from 1906, and each delivers 5mg THC and 5mg CBD like many edibles, but these drops contain water-soluble cannabinoids. This is the new trend in cannabis consumables because it means you start to feel the effects within 15 minutes instead of waiting for an hour, which is game-changing.

But more importantly, the 1906 Midnight Drops are infused with corydalis rhizome extract, because these drops are intended to be a sleep aid, and even with my high tolerance for cannabis, one of these things knocks me out for the night. Honestly, if you’re sick of the way melatonin barely helps (and of the habit-forming nature of prescription sleep aids), get in here and try some Midnight.

CRD CBD Vape Oil

This is the first new cannabis product that we don’t carry in our Durango dispensary, and I’ll tell you why, but we’ll get to that in a bit.

“CRD” stands for “crystallization resistant distillate,” and it’s super annoying when people say “CRD Distillate” because that’s redundant, just like saying “ATM machine” or “pin number” (think about it). Anyway, CBD has a crystalline chemical structure, and when you get CBD vape oil with a high concentration (usually over the 70% mark), the oil will start to crystallize if you let it sit for long periods of time, which means you won’t be able to vape it. So, they figured out that if you make CBD oil that contains CBDa (the acid form of the cannabinoid) as well as regular CBD, the acid stops the oil from forming crystals. It’s that simple.

Now, the reason we don’t well this stuff is that we’re a marijuana shop, not a hemp shop, so very few of our CBD products crystallize because there’s also plenty of THC and terpenes mixed in as well (I told you I’d get to it). But if you ever shop at hemp stores for CBD-only products, you’ll need to know this stuff.

Dab Tabs

This particular new product definitely fits the bill for something novel and exciting, but we aren’t yet selling it in our Durango dispensary because there isn’t enough demand for products like these in small-town shops. That being said, if you’d like to try Dab Tabs, come in and tell us. If there are enough of you cannabis adventurers out there, we’ll listen and add Dab Tabs to our shelves because we pride ourselves on being responsive.

Anyway, a “dab tab” is a little, hexagonal piece of ceramic that has been soaked in distillate. All you do is drop the Dab Tab into the banger on your dab rig, heat it up like you would with a cold-start dab, and then the heat releases the distillate from the Dab Tab to give you a hit. Once all the distillate has been smoked out of the Dab Tab, you simply remove the piece of ceramic and throw it away.

I know this probably sounds odd, but the worst thing about dabbing is having to handle all that sticky concentrate. It makes dabbing on the go almost impossible. But with a Dab Tab, you have a measured amount of distillate in a piece of ceramic you can pick up and handle easily with your fingers. Really, this one is pretty ingenious, and if it sounds interesting enough to try, come tell us. We’ll listen.

Ripple Quick Sticks

The only thing wrong with edibles is that they don’t get you high as quickly as smokables (frankly, I don’t consider this to be a problem, but stoners can be impatient). So, as I’ve told you before, they came out with water-soluble THC that acts twice as quickly as old-school, lipid-soluble THC (read all about it HERE). Frankly, I thought that’d be the zenith of fast-acting edibles, but I was wrong because Ripple just came out with their “Quick Sticks,” which combine water-soluble cannabinoid technology with a sublingual delivery mechanism for the quickest edible high ever—thanks to this new level of bioavailability, the onset for this new product is 15 minutes or less, which is insane.

Anyway, the Quick Sticks, which we might have on our shelves by the time you’re done reading this, are wonderful: they’re little packets of flavored powder that you simply dump into your mouth and enjoy. The THC-only version tastes like blueberry pomegranate, the 1:1 THC/CBD version tastes like ginger-berry, and the 40:1 CBD-rich version is mint chocolate flavored.

LR Goo Balls

For the record, this is a relatively new product as well, and it’s one of my new favorite ways to smoke, but you’ll never find LR Goo Balls in any dispensary because they’re too expensive to make and most smokers have no idea what they are, so they wouldn’t sell anyway. Rather, this is a DIY smoking project that you can try at home, and I promise it’ll break up the monotony.

“LR” stands for “live resin,” and a “goo ball” is anything you make at home by combining flower and concentrate. So, simply put, all you need to do is buy a gram of awesome flower and a gram of live resin (but per the LR, make sure it’s a badder or something terp-rich so it mixes well). Then you grind up your flower and mix it with the live resin. Together, the two will form a gooey paste that you can form into a ball and smoke in a pipe, which is one of the only ways you can smoke live resin without a dab rig. Doing this brings together the best of both worlds, flower and concentrate, and you’ll enjoy it because it’s new. I promise.

And that’s it for now! I’ll make sure to keep scouring the market for the newest and greatest innovations in the cannabis market, and if you’d like, you can keep reading these blogs so you can know just as much as I do. Better yet, if you find something new out there, let us know and we’ll investigate it so we can share the good news—until marijuana is legalized federally, we’ll need to keep working together to share information. But either way, you should stop by our dispensary to check out what’s new in person. We’ll always make sure to stock our Durango dispensary with the newest marijuana products available, because We’re Your Best Buds!

There’s a universal sign language gesture for “marijuana vape cartridge,” and I bet you already know it, because every tourist who walks though our door uses it without knowing. They’ll come in and hold up their hand and then hold their thumb and forefinger apart by an inch or so, and say something like, “do you have those vape thingies?” Lately, just to have a little bit of fun behind the counter, as soon as someone holds up their hand in the universal “vape thingy” symbol, I say “you’re looking for a vape cartridge” before they can ask for one, and they give me a weird look, as if they just met a psychic.

But there’s another gesture people use as well that I’ve learned is universal: sometimes, when a customer who’s looking for a cartridge comes in, they’ll pinch their fingers together and move their hand up and down like they’re plugging something in, and they’ll ask, “do you have those magnetic vape things?” Well, I used to say “no” because we didn’t carry them, but so many people asked that we decided to add them to our shelves. Oh… and by the way, instead of asking for the “magnetic vape things,” all you need to do is ask for an AiroPro Vape Cartridge, and we’ll say yes, because now we have tons of them in our Durango dispensary.

Yes, it took us a while to bring this product on given that it came out a few years ago, but there’s a reason for that. In the beginning, only one company filled the cartridges for this vape system, and the oil itself wasn’t that good. But now, a company called EvoLab took over, and they’re filling the AiroPro carts with some of the best oil and Live Resin in the state. Frankly, we couldn’t be more excited to have AiroPro products on our shelves, but that doesn’t do you any good if you don’t know the details, so here they are:

AiroPro Battery

There are two different types of vape batteries on the market: 510-threaded batteries, and pod-system batteries. The first type is pretty universal, and with it, you screw the cart onto the battery (“510” is the thread size). The second type is becoming increasingly popular—with pod-systems, you simply plug the pod into the battery, which is quicker and easier, and then start smoking. However, the reason the AiroPro system is so awesome is that it’s a hybrid that lives right in the middle. There’s a magnet inside the AiroPro battery, and all you do is drop in a cartridge (which sticks to the magnet) and then inhale. It’s super easy. But you can also buy a little adaptor online that screws onto 510-threaded cartridges to make them compatible with the AiroPro battery, so you get the best of both worlds, which is game changing.

As to the battery itself, it’s pretty slick. It’s a 320mAh battery, so its power level is right in that middle Goldilocks zone, but the cartridges themselves were designed to give off three times the vapor as a regular 510-threaded carts, so if you pull hard when you inhale, the vapor cloud is much larger than you’d expect from a 320mAh battery.

But the most interesting thing about the AiroPro battery is the haptic feedback; it vibrates while you’re inhaling to let you know it’s working. That way, there aren’t any flashing lights when you get high, making this one of the more discrete vaporizers out there. And remember that magnet inside I was telling you about? Well, it’s strong enough to turn the entire battery into a magnet, which means you can stick your vape pen on your refrigerator, if you’re into that sort of thing. Why knows? Maybe you’re the type who likes to take a hit every time you open your fridge; we don’t judge.

AiroPro Oil Cartridges

This is the exciting part, because like I said, now that EvoLab is filling the AiroPro cartridges, you can get awesome oil for an awesome vape system, and in the cannabis industry, that’s like having your cake and eating it, too. So, we’ve brought on a Sativa, Hybrid, and Indica version of the 500mg Alchemy oil from EvoLab. If you haven’t tried this stuff, you should probably stop reading now and come get one.

AiroPro Live Resin Cartridge

The best thing about batteries like the AiroPro system is that cartridges just pop in and pop out, so it’s easy to switch back and forth in the middle of your smoke session. And trust me, you need a Live Resin cartridge in your line up, because this is the stuff made with fresh-frozen flower, not dried and cured flower like everything else. The LR carts we brought in for the AiroPro come from Fuego, and they’re even a bit better than the Alchemy, if such a thing were possible.

And that’s that! So, if you’re looking for a new high-tech vape system, or if you’re one of the many people who’ve come in asking for “one of those magnetic vape thingies” along with the universal hand gesture, come see us! Our hours are awesome, and we’re open seven days a week, so when it comes to AiroPro batteries and cartridges in Durango, We’re Your Best Buds!

Vape Pens and Vape Cartridges

vape, vape pens, vape carts, vape cartridges, exotic vape, exotic cartridges, exotic carts, dispensary vape, thc oil, vape oil, Dispensary, Durango dispensary, the greenery, the greenery Durango, dispensary Durango, cbd oil, dispensaries in Durango Colorado, dispensaries in Durango co, Durango co dispensary, marijuana dispensary, dispensary Durango co, cannabis oil, hash oil, durango, durango dispensary, durango dispensaries, dispensary, dispensaries

The very first blog I wrote for The Greenery was about vape pens—that was seventy-five blogs ago, and I told you how old I felt on my first day working here, because in my day, all you could do was smoke pot, but now, you can vaporize distilled CO2 cannabis oil with a ceramic atomizer… If Luke Skywalker enjoys cannabis, this is probably how he does it. And even though I wrote that first blog only a year and a half ago, things have changed drastically, and it’s obvious that you care because 1,200 of you read that first post (I’m famous!). So, this week, I wanted to revisit cannabis vape pens and oils to let you know what’s new.

For one, we now sell Bluetooth-capable vape pens. Seriously. If you buy a PAX Era battery (we sell them for $33 out the door), you can download an app for your smartphone and do all sorts of cool things: you can lock the battery from your phone and then leave it on your coffee table without worrying about roommates smoking your oil, you can adjust the heat remotely from your phone, and you can even play a few vape-themed games on your phone, if you’re into that sort of thing. But you don’t need the app to use the PAX Era pen (I don’t have the app, and I use my PAX all the time), so don’t worry if technology isn’t your thing.

Now, as to the cartridges or “pods” the Pax uses, I’ll simply say that they’re awesome. We carry all the exotics, like pods filled with Live Resin or Budder or Distillate, and you need to try these things. The Live Resin pods are full of terps and they taste and feel just like traditional marijuana, the Budder pods pack a punch, and the distillate pods are filled with naturally-occurring terpenes for a wonderful taste and a clean high: right now, we have blueberry, orange creamsicle, and lime sherbet—giving these exotic vape products a candy-like flavor.

And then there’s Evolab; these people are straight-up scientists. They’re the only company out there who has managed to create a “cannabis-derived cutting agent,” or CDCA. You see, all oils need to be thinned with something to make them smokable, because most oils and distillates are nearly solid after processing, so something needs to be added to make them viscus. PAX pods use PG or MCT, some companies use terpenes, but Evolab can claim that 100% of the oil in their carts comes from the cannabis plant thanks to their CDCA. We sell 500mg distillate cartridges that’ll fit on any universal 510-threaded battery, and that’s a good thing because the Chroma carts are as clean and pure as they come. The Alchemy Balance carts deliver high percentages of both THC and CBD, and the Evolab disposable vape pens we sell contain 250mg pure CO2 oil.

Third, we carry the full gamut of pure CO2 oils from Sweet (which stands for “southwest expert extraction technology,” because this oil is produced right here in Durango). We sell their cartridges and disposable vape pens, but for those of you who like to dab oil or fill your own cartridges, we also sell one-gram syringes filled with Sweet’s potent oil; the value and convenience is unbeatable. And speaking of value, we also sell 500mg carts from V3 Oil, and you need to come check these things out because you wouldn’t believe the price if I put it in this blog.

And lastly, we need to talk about O.pen. We still sell this company’s standard and Reserve cartridges (the ones I talked about in that first blog), but now, we’re selling their terpene-rich distillate as well—this product is ludicrously good. The distillate is CO2 derived, but the problem with most distillates is that they don’t contain any terpenes, so the high is potent but it isn’t complex. So, O.pen started including up to 13% strain-specific terpenes in their Craft Distillate, which was already one of the best products on the market. Now, when you smoke the Craft carts we’re selling (which will soon be available in a one-gram version!), you get the familiar type of high and taste you’d get from flower.

There! Those are the all the new and exciting things you need to know about the world of vaporizable cannabis oils. So please, if you’re twenty-one or older with a valid I.D. that proves it, come see Your Best Buds at 208 Parker Avenue if you’re interested in vaping marijuana, because there’s no such thing as a Durango dispensary with a higher-quality selection than The Greenery!
